| Motherboards don't do things in just one particular "standard" way. There are a small handful of variations that are the most common, but even so...the best policy is to follow the installation instructions of the motherboard manual. Since this is your first build, that's a particularly good idea.
I should have thought of this possibility sooner. I didn't want to insult your intelligence about reading the manual. But maybe I should have? When I first started doing computer builds, it was cobbling together hardware from old/used computers. So I never expected anything like a reset jumper on a brand new motherboard when I first bought a new motherboard. Even so, I didn't really know what I was doing, so I read the motherboard manual before proceeding. But I could easily imagine myself just plugging everything together and then being puzzled at why it wasn't working.
