there is no audio problem in mandrake v9.1 but in v10

hi. this is my first question!
i installed mandrake 9.1 first and it worked well (except i don't remember about modem). then i deleted and installed mandrake 10 but had a audio problem. never heard anything so far! i uninstalled xmms (coz it is not giving an error but freezing, not closing). then tried again but none of mp3s or audio cds didnt work. no any sounds. sounds are open. is there any sound settings that i couldnt find? i tried kmix but nothing changed..

-----
also i couldnt configure my modem. its model is known in the list but nothing in the right. is it one way to configure it?

this might helpful..

I don't know about your audio problem but as for the modem, what kind of modem is it? 56k? is it external serial modem or internel winmodem?
