Unable to access transcends 32GB CF on our custom designed embedded board

Hi folks,
we have designed an embedded system with Freescales MPC8248 on it.
we have Compact Flash card interface on it using 50 pin connector and "True IDE mode". CF is accessed in PIO mode 5 (110nsec for read/write).
Full system works fine and accessing CF card of upto 8GB too is perfect.

But when we connect any CF card of higher configuration as 16/32 GB, "fdisk -l" or "hdparm -g /dev/hda" shows only size as 8GB only....

could any one flash light wat could be making these utilities to behave in this fashion....

Thanks

There was a time where older BIOSes had a limit of 8GB (self imposed if I recall correctly). Is it possible that's happening here or that the adapter itself has such a limitation?

As bigtomrodney said. Have you tried to configure the interface to EIDE mode (if possible)?
