Compaq Presario SR5611AF

I'm considering buying a Compaq Presario: SR5611AF.
Does anyone have experience with this computer?
Does the sound and video work good?
Is it quiet?
Any advice?

Thanks

The Compaq Presario systems tended to have a lot of proprietary hardware that make running non-Windows systems problematic with them. What do you want to get out of your system, and how much are you able to spend?

I need a basic system: Office programs, playing audio and video.
I might do things like convert files from divx to dvd.
I want to keep things as economical as possible.
I will probably get a tower, because I will want to have the
extra room for things like an extra hard drive.

Thanks

Ok. So you're not looking for a laptop. Dell has some nice systems at a very reasonable price. For example, you can get an Inspiron 546 starting at $269 USD w/ AMD processor, 2GB ram, 320GB disc (can put another one inside the box), ATI graphics processor, 5.1 surround sound, and DVD+RW. Comes with Vista, but you can put Linux on it without any problem. It will also handle up to 8GB of RAM.
