partition table?

I recently shrank a ext3 partition (from 45-35GB) using gparted, and added a fat32 in the 10 GB space. Now when I check the partition size, it still says 45. And Ubuntu wont boot from it. Both partitions are read/writeable from live linux boot cd.

I have tried using e2fsck, currently I am holding down 'y' (which has been going on for 30 mins). question i am answering with y is "error reading block xxxxxxxx (invalid argument) while getting next inode scan. ignore error? and Force rewrite?

apparently superblock or partition table is wrong, i dont know much about these.
internet has shown that once i get done cycling through all these inode stuff then it may might work just fine. But i haven't found a conclusive solution.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there harbour.
Did you reboot after making the changes to your partition tables? Also, did you set/unset any active partition markings? And I take it that both partitions are "primary"?
Thanks.
