iPod Touch 3rd generation

I have recently come into the possession of an iPod Touch 3rd generation.

I'd like to know if there is any way to sync it using Linux and the USB cable, to be as fast (or nearly) as iTunes. Obviously there is no Linux version of iTunes, and the information I have gathered that have said it is impossible are a few years old now.

Is there a way to sync this device with Linux? (Taking into account the database which means there is no mass storage support enable checkbox in iTunes)

Thanks

gtkpod and Amarok will give you some love, but there will be a complete lack of some functionality.
The best I've heard of is actually to run iTunes under Wine.

yeah, i just got iPod Touch 3rd generation for my little girl' birthday on accessorygeeks. This iPod is still the king of the hill when it comes to portable, Wi-Fi-wielding media players. New additions such as Voice Control, graphics enhancements, improved accessibility, higher capacity, and a faster processor help to refine and already excellent product.
