scanner trouble and broken pipe (SOLVED --sort of)

here is the output I get from scanimage -L I have both the sanebackends installed and the hplip driver from hp with the hpaio backend got this to work before but had to reinstall having serious trouble. thanks

well I did a reinstall of gentoo and now everything works so I don't know what fixed it but its fixed will mark as solved.
