mount command is giving me problems

At the moment, I'm using the mount command. It keeps downsizing the amount characters each folder and file has.

For example, if I use an alternative GUI mounting method, my folder looks like this:

    /device-installation/

but with just a regular mount command, it looks like this:

    /devi~1/

It has a squiggle and reduces the name. I don't know why it's doing that. What do I do about this?

That looks a lot like the formatting of an old DOS directory. What's the format of the partition you're mounting? Also, what's the exact command you're using to mount with, and show us the corresponding line in /etc/fstab.

You're right. It did look like the old DOS format. I fixed it, though. I simply tagged on the filesystem type to the command. That fixed the tilde problem I was having.
