    What burning app are you trying to use?

    K3b is one of the easiest to use, but it prefers to work under KDE.

    You could also consider command line burns if you are having problems with GUI applications.

    Here's a HowTo you can use for burning your DVDs:

    HOWTO Create a DVD:Burn - Gentoo Linux Wiki

    It's for Gentoo, but the actual burning parts work for any distro.
