    linux based media player

    Hi,
Since a while i’m playing with a Linux operating mediaplayer called the sarotech DVP 570HD. Nice device with only one issue which I did not manage to resolve so far.

The device has got a lan connection, but the problem is that i can only access a shared drive on my computer to stream media, and not the other way around (from computer to media player). The computer to media player harddrive would be a very nice feature as I can than more easily copy files to the device. Now I have to disconnect from my tv and take it upstairs and establish an usb connection in order to copy data.

The new device firmare contains a abigs.bin file (http://www.it-designers.nl/abigs.bin) which is mountable in Linux ("mount -o loop bigs.bin /media/"). And I was wondering if I could modify this file, prior flashing it to the media player, in order to establish computer to device access.

As im far from an expert on this topic, could some suggest the required modifications (host.conf or smb.conf or resolv.conf, or ….) in order to potentially establish this trick?

Also I wonder, once the required firmware mods are implemented, how I could recreate the abigs.bin file suitable for flashing, and if there is a change that such modification will wreck / destroy the device.

Many thanks for some instructions / guidance on this one.

    Regards
    Patrick
