I have 2 books that spring to mind:
C: The complete reference ISBN 0078821010
    &
    Begining LINUX Programming ISBN 0764543733
You will have to check if there are later versions avail.

For C, you cannot beat The C Programming Language by Kernighan and Ritchie. Ritchie designed the C language and was involved in the creation of UNIX. This is essentially the standard book on C, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
