You should improve that "0 knowledge I had in the subject" by working through a bash tutorial. You can find one by googling
I'm sure that someone else will (and I hope someone else does) come along and post a link to his or her favorite tutorial.Code:bash tutorial
But as far as specifics go, we are not allowed to help with homework. You'll get a better education by splashing around in your own environment.

It turns out that the rule isn't entirely arbitrary; there's a reason for it.
If we were to help with specific homework problems, it would interfere with the educational process. Sounds pompous, but it's really true!
Try a simple "hello world" script. Watch it run. Then add to that script things you really want to do, one at a time. Test each one. google if you have questions, or your instructor will have a good sense as to how to help you best in the context of your course.
