    Updating bash

    Hello,

    I have a linux distribution with bash 3.1.17.
    I wonder if it is possible to update bash to a newer

    It shouldn't pose any big danger.

    How difficult it will be depends on your distro. If there are prebuilt packages with newer versions of bash then there shouldn't be a problem. If not, then you might need to build it from source.
