PHP 6 Due to Release... When?!

I have been very disconnected the past few months and purchased a book to learn PHP because of a web dev job I applied for. The book is for PHP 6 however, I found out tonight that it hasen't even been released yet. The newest release is currently 5.2.8. Now I feel like a fool.

Does anyone know when they are shooting to release PHP 6? I would do more investigation myself (PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor doesn't have any info I could find) but I am at my in-laws' place and their computer is running Vista, very buggy and slow. I feel like I'm running a 533 Mhz computer. It has taken me about 15 minutes to actually sign in and post this thread.

I've been looking through the net and I saw many complains about what a book said about php6. i haven't looked at it myself, I'm first going to wait for a while and look what the development does on the net. Here is a link where you can download the php6 source. It's still in development but at least you can try a few things.

that worries me but everything i've tried from the book i have tried (i am running php 5.2.6) works. i haven't got very far yet.

The book is called PHP6 AND MYSQL5. it has a rabbit on the front.
