python vs ruby
I want to start messing around with wireless/wired network programming. I've narrowed my best choices down to python or ruby and would like to get feedback on which everyone thinks is best. I have used neither of these but have experience with other languages mostly matlab and prolog with C++ several years ago. Please reply with respect to (1) ease of use, (2) portability betw/ linux, unix, mac and windows if possible, (3) relative speed, (4) relative efficiency, (5) popularity - as in which language has the widest support base, (6) popularity - as in which language provides the most extensibility in terms of open source sw currently available and (7) library support. Right now, I'm leaning towards python because to my understanding scapy is fully developed whereas the ruby version scruby contains a small subset of protocols. I am more concerned in pros but I would also like to be aware of issues that piss you off.
Thanks
