Help With Computing Homework

Hi all

Am knew to linux and have been asked by college to do a some script editing using vi but am bit stuck and need some help. Have been asked to produce a script for archiving daily log files. Each week the log files are to be placed in a directory named week xx where week xx is the number of the week.Each week the directory should be archived and compressed and stored in a folder called log_directories.When the script is complete it should display on the monitor exactly what files and directories it has archived

Would be grateful for some help
