When answering programming questions, it's always helpful to know - at a minimum - what language we're talking about. Other details might be helpful, like the native OS and the target OS. Any other details you can add will potentially result in a better answer.

I'm more or less like you, I created one thread asking for one question similar that your question. You could read the Linux Scratch ebook, that you can download free from his web page. Or simply you can try putting in Google "cross compiler building manual" or something like. From what I've seen several manuals are different between they, this cause confusion and it's difficult finding one good manual.
