Question Where is GTK+ doc for latest versions?

I have GTK+ books that show how to accomplish many things, but the functions they use are now deprecated. As I search for documentation that explains how to accomplish things with the new API, I'm unable to find anything except automated reference material that shows the parameters and a terse single sentence description of the function. Where on earth is explanatory documentation with examples of using the new API?

    thanks,
    Steve

Here is a place to start. This is gtk2.24. There is a link from here to the new manual for gtk3.
