Sorry that no one was able to help you but I think part of the problem would be that no one here has actually tried it or that there is people who have tried/done it but they haven't logged in yet to see your thread. Maybe better luck next time.

You might want to look at the Linux From Scratch page - they have a section on ALFS (Automated Linux From Scratch) that aims to make a complete working Linux system in this way.
