creating a new "vocabulary tip of the day" application for gnome-shell
I have been trying to create a "vocabulary tip of the day" application using one of the dictionaries available online from stardict; much like ailurus's tip of the day application, except in place of linux tips i want to use english words and their meanings as the tip. When the user logs in, the app would pop-up and tell him about a random word and then the user can close it! At logout, i want the app to pop-up again and ask him about the same word with a textbox for the user to enter his response into! Submitting which the app would let him know of the correct answer if he has been wrong otherwise a "correct response" message if he were right!
Please suggest me some way to do it preferably in c/c++. I am not new to linux but this is the first i would be writing a real application for it!
