    I'm sure you could do that with the Eclipse IDE, but that is a beast, IMO. I like more stream-lined editors.

    I know you can do it in Nedit, for example, which is my favorite editor. it is kind of weird, though, b/c it executes it and then pipes the output into your code (from the drop-down menu, select "Shell > Execute Command", then use the % character to execute the file you are currently editing), wherever the cursor is located. there is probably a way to configure that though.

    There is also Geany, which can execute your code, according to their FAQ (never used it myself):
