    hello, how I limit output characters from a bashscript?

    example:

    a bash script showing a name of food

    the bananas 32 units

    i want:

    the ban... 32 units

    hi,

    this is probably possible to modify how the script prints its output within the script.
    as we don't have the script, I can't say more.
    yes, read the ABS.

    thanks, for one line output command, I use the "head -c N°CHARACTERS".

    can't you change the script? it seems more reasonable than adding a "layer" of external command., though.
