    If you're dying to use IPC interfaces, I'm sure it could be done through JNI and perhaps someone has done so. It will be a little messy because it's OS dependent but it can be done. Have you Googled for such a library?

    Have you considered a FIFO? Perhaps two for two-way communication? You woudln't need JNI and it would be much less OS dependent - all Unix platforms support FIFOs.
