Infrared Ports
If I have an infrared port on my motherboard, can I just connect any IR-LED Rx/Tx or do I need special ones for computers? and how would I address it so I can use it in "C/C++"??

I'm not sure about this, but I think that you need to get one of those IrDA transcievers, like this one:

Anyway, if you manage to get one, it will be available as a normal COM port, just like any other.
