Info on C Compilers ?
I used to program in Fortran many years ago(35) and i am in the process of updating my brain. Have a small LAN and have downloaded BIND 8 src and want to fool around with setting up local DNS to learn. BIND says use ANSI C compiler so any recommendations? I downloaded DICE compiler and also know that GCC would be good but would take forever to download on modem. Also any good books on basics of using compilers and BIND?
Thanks, Steve

GCC will be on whatever linux distro disk/s you have.

If I'm correct, GCC is thought of the best compiler in the world. And if you choose some older version of it, the download shouldnt be too long.
