    It turns out that my at programme only needs to set DISPLAY.I had
    forgotten that the default is to be executed by Bash so setenv just gave
    an error which I hadn't noticed originally.When I used export instead
    the window was opened.

    I've never tried cron. at doesn't.When I schedule an at job
    I get the message
    warning: commands will be executed using (in order) a) $SHELL b) login shell c) /bin/sh
    From the command line SHELL contains my login shell (tcsh) but
    I guess when an at job gets executed the variable gets a different
    value.
