    need help to bind the lan cards mack address

    dear friends

    do some one help me about this i have commercial cache in linux redhat with squid

    i copy that hard disk it works fine but i have to use the orignal lancard
    if i change the lan card it stop working

    changed same company same model -it is some thing in mac that software find the diffrence in mac and it stop working

    there is no way to install new card in this it

    just only way is mount on other pc running redhat and do some changes in scripts
    but i didnt find the particuler script where this mac address is stored
    help appreseated

    the command you should run is ifconfig

    I don't remember the particoular command syntax for setting the MAC adddress... something like ifconfig eth0 hwaddr 00:0C:... but you should check the relative man page.

    You can change the MAC address in the init.d scripts if they are responsible of bringup network interfaces, but I don't know how RedHat handle network interfaces.
