    there are all sorts of fun things you can do with the command line and a lot of time Read the bash-howto. It is on tldp.org somwhere. You can change how your shell does almost anything. It is crazy how configurable some of these programs (bash, vi, mutt, etc.) are.

    Not to mention emacs! You could probably do anything, only to find that it's already been done for you.
