Another Question on Python (in Fedora Core 4)

    Hi folks,

The Python newbie is back. I need to use numerical arrays, but when I try to import Numeric or Numarray (as instructed in the tutorial) I end up with an ImportError. Apparently, neither of the files exists.

I am getting ready to download and install Numeric 2.4.2 from Sourceforge, but I was just wondering if a similar package already exists in Fedora Core 4. After all, Python has a "batteries included" approach, so something as important as a numeric module of some kind must already be present, must it not? Does anyone here know the default Python numeric module in Fedora Core 4? I like to avoid redundancies whenever possible.

And if I must download and install a package, is Numeric the best one?

    Code:
    yum install python-numeric python-numarray
    etc.
