    Good (free) game engine

I want to make my own games. But do not have time/skill to make a full game. So i want a game engine to help me with the base of it. I would like one that is available on linux and free so far i have come across Torque game engine (http://www.garagegames.com/products/browse/tge/) but that costs money for a full version. Does anyone know of a good and free game engine for linux?

The Doom and Quake engines are free under the GPL.

    Doom
    Quake
    Quake 2
    Quake 3
    Warzone 2100
    Duke Nukem 3D
Shadow Warrior (based on the same engine as Nukem3D)

Take a look at this thread.

It also depends on what type of game you want to make.

There are excellent 3D engines available:
    http://www.ogre3d.org/
    http://www.crystalspace.org/
    http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/
    http://luxina.de/

Perhaps you want something simple, 2D?
    http://openlegends.sourceforge.net/
    http://www.pygame.org/
    http://www.libsdl.org/
    http://www.clanlib.org/
    http://www.talula.demon.co.uk/allegro/

Or perhaps you have an exact type of game in mind and want an engine that caters specifically for it?
    http://gemrb.sourceforge.net/ (Baldur's Gate)
    http://www.fifengine.de/ (Fallout-like)
    http://www.stratagus.org/ (2D RTS)
    http://arrakis.sourceforge.net/ (2D RTS)

You need to be specific about requirements.
