    Open media files with shell


    Hi, this might sound a stupid question,but: Is there anyway of opening
    images or videos under shell/bash?
    I have tried to open some images, and some times I get some strange symbols
    in my screen. Other times I get the message "cannot open binary file"

    Anyone knows?

    you need GUI for viewing images or videos.... you can listen songs using CLI players.....

    no its not possible to open files like that ...but you can open players...
    if you want to open xmms just type xmms into terminal

    Actually, you can view images and play videos with certain applications in a framebuffer environment.
    Flies of a particular kind, i.e. time-flies, are fond of an arrow.
