BSD: wget => fetch doesnt work

    Ok,
I jut was tryingt o migrate my script from Linux to BSD but it seams thta fetch doesnt wont to coop w. me.
Here is waht i had under linux:

    wget --spider -q $URL

    And here is my BSD:

    fetch -h | $URL

And it doesnt work, and I cant figure why and manual seas a bit strange Also It seams I can not execute as a spider nor without any output as i would do under linux

Any ideas how to make the thing work exactly as it is in linux but under BSD? Thanks@!

Don't you have wget on the BSD box? It is a cross platform tool I have it on a Windows box too.

sorry if I reply to a very old thread without solution, but maybe someone can find it googling (like I did)
a/w, is possible to install wget in freebsd by compiling it in its ports' folder (/usr/ports/www/wget/)

    Code:
cd /usr/ports/www/wget/ && make install clean
    if you're using portmaster:
    Code:
    portmaster www/wget
