I'm trying to create a custom icon overlay in Gnome (or KDE). As an example of what I mean, when you have an icon on the desktop, right click it, and click Make Link, it creates an icon with a little arrow in the upper right corner to show that its a link. That's essentially what I'm aiming for, but a custom overlay/position. Anyone have any experience with this?
