Three newbie questions to start compiling on Linux

    Hi to all,

is there any way to open the .dsw MS Visual C++ projects on Linux (Ubuntu Edgy)?

I come from windows. What is your advice to start compiling? what is the equivalent of Visual C++ on Linux?

Is there anything like the .NET platform?
