What is Perl, What is it for? similar to Emacs?
Perl is a programming language, much like shellscripting, but Perl has much more powerful support, for example databsae support, xml-parsers and much more.

Perl stands for Practical Extracting Report Language. It was designed to work on text material. Like andutt stated, it is widely used for scripting purposes. I believe PERL is a hybrid language where it's somewhat compiled into it's own psuedocode which in turn is interpreted by the PERL interpreter.
It has also been said to stand for Pathologically Eclectic Rubbish Lister.
That's like saying LISP stands for Lots of Irritating Single Parenthesis instead of the real meaning List Processing. =)
I see, hm, what about emacs, emacs is for CC+ right? is it the same with perl?
What are you talking about? Emacs is a text editor. Perl is a programming language.
Oh, ho ho, I see, thanks. so that means perl is similar to Visual Basic of Microshit? Hm, I think I'd better search the web for details, anyway, thanks a lot there.
Perl simlilar to Visual Basic? How did you get that?
Emacs is written in LISP (this still boggles my mind). PERL is not in anyway related to Microsoft's programming language Visual Basic.
