Have you seen this link? It has very good resources for almost everything you want to install on Fedora

ok i tried that and when i do

    sudo ln -s /opt/jre1.6/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so

    i get the output

ln: creating symbolic link `/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so': File exists

so i presume its already installed but it still doesnt work.

    What's the output of this?
    ls -la /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
And is that where you installed Java to /opt/jre1.6/plugin? or somewhere else?

Well I am kinda stumped on this one, I would try re-installing it one more time to make sure everything is right.
