kernel panic error message is pretty common. Post a few more lines that appear before kernel panic message.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Something is wrong with APIC. Highlight Ubuntu title in GRUB menu and press 'a'. Type noapic and hit Enter key. Check if Ubuntu boots up properly.

I think, you are correct. Because i am very new to linux.

When i give that command i am getting error pharagrah like

    call Trace:<ffffffffffff8013a635> {panic+533}.....

actually when i started to install FC4, I faced a problem like unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type.

    Then i used the command
    linux all-generic-ide irqpoll pci-nommconf

Installation was success but rebooting is not happend.

    Thanks for replies.

Which Linux Distro are you using right now? Fedora or Ubuntu?
Boot up in Rescue Mode and run fsck on root partition.

I am tring to install Fedro 4 in DELL DESKTOP. If i install same thing in latitude, it's installing without any problem. When i am going to desktop, i got a problem like unale to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type. So, i used a command like linux all-generic-ide irqpoll pci-nommconf. Now, it's installed successfully but problem is starts like earlier i written here.

Thank you very much for your quick replies.

Highlight Fedora title in GRUB Menu and press 'a'. Type irqpoll pci-nommconf and hit Enter key. If Fedora boots up, add both parameters at the end of kernel line in /boot/grub/grub.conf file.
