    Strange wireless problems

    Hi,
I'm a newbie with a Fedora 8 related problem. My wireless network card, an Atheros AR5007UG, suddenly stopped working. When I try to activate it in system-config-network, I get the message:

Device wlan0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.

    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Same here,

I am having the same problem, and as you i'm a newbie. But I ran a simple test to see if my networkcard was working. Mine is disabled. But you can type in /sbin/lsusd -v for the usb and it will tell you in the bottom of the list if your card is enabled or diabled. But i am trying to find out how to get my wireless to work and I am running 7.0.

    That doesn't even work:

    [root@localhost tobias]# /sbin/lsusd -v
bash: /sbin/lsusd: No such file or directory

    ok, try this

Try typing in /sbin/lspci -v. this should give you the information about the entire computer, and at the bottom of the list it will say something about network card. See I am still having trouble getting my card to enable, so I can get on the internet using a network cable, but can't use my wireless card. So if you figure it out, let me now please.

    yes it is

Yeah, now it says that the access is denied. I am not sure what that means. You'll have to find out how to change the permissions on that file using root. Now I have not played with Linux for about 7-8 years now, so this is all review for me, But I would recommend checking the permissions first.

did this wireless card originally require you to manually install a driver? Did you update your kernel? If you updated your kernel you need to recompile the kernel module (driver) for this card.
