    installing patch

    RHEL AS 4
    Hi friends,
    I have gcc-3.4.3-9.EL4 installed.
    I want to install gcc-3.4.3-22.1.src.rpm
    I did rpm -ivh *.rpm
The patch was installed but when i do
    rpm -qa | grep gcc
it still shows the old gcc.

    What else should be done?

    Thanks

You installed a source rpm (src.rpm) and not a binary rpm. The rpm you need should be labelled something like *.i386.rpm.

Ok but i am unable to find gcc-3.4.3-22.1.i386.rpm.
Can you provide a link for that?
Can iuse *.src.rpm to extract i386.rpm?
    Thanks

You rebuild the src.rpm to an rpm by doing "rpmbuild --rebuild somefile.src.rpm[/code]
