Is it possible to specify - deselect, prioritize, add - which repositiries Software updater accesses?

Every now and then my transfer rates triple or more...but lasts only for s period of time. It makes me think that the update that is coming down at that particular moment is hosted in a different location. I'm just guessing but it's the only thing that makes sense. Maximizing my connect speed is important since I'm on dialup.

If I could grab all the updates (download them) from work where I have highspeed and then somhow make Software Updater look to a folder on the machine instead of a web location, that would be even better.

    Thanks for the read...

    google for yum local mirror

It's a lot of initial bandwidth though for fedora.
Not so much for rhel/centos - but mirror for fedora updates will use a lot of disk space.
