Booting Problem
Hello, This is to inform you that I have installed red hat linux 9 in the november,2007. It was functioning properly but lat night when I started booting in linux after a while it gave me a message like "You had an unclean shutdown last time". Then it started root system file checking. After the checking is complete, It is showing a message like something has failed(error). then "Give root password for maintenance or press control-D to reboot". When After providing root password it is opening a shell as:
(repair filesystem) 1 # .
So I do not know what to do next. As a result I am not been able to work in linux(booting problem). Would anyone plzzz try to solve my problem as early as possible!!!! Your kind co-operation is solicited.

Hi and Welcome !
Execute fsck command on /boot and / partitions.
Reboot machine and post exact error message here, if any.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
