    you can not enter into the system without a password so I am not sure how you get into the system. Anyway, you can add a passoword to user name by typing
    >passwd username
    you will be prompted for the password. The enter your password and then confirm it.
    If this doesn't solve your problem then delete your current username and create a new one by using command 'adduser' and set the password as explained above. To do this you need to be logged in as root.

    thx it worked! Now im trying to install the ati proprietary driver but i cant install .bin files, any idea on how to install or find a rpm?

    Thank you..Installing software and stuff now, i like fedora, i think it is simple and everything but i can get desktop effects to work, i got the the drivers and it doesnt work and the built in drivers dont work either. Is there a distro that supports the video care in gateway mx6454 or am i gona deal with no compiz until a driver is made?

    ok i tried desktop effects again but my screen turns white, but my mouse works and can click things, i just cant see anything its all white except the mouse. i go back to normal desktop with esc.

    You havn't installed ATI Proprietary Driver.
    Execute this
    Code:
    su -
    rpm -Uvh http://www.fedorafaq.org/yum http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
    yum install kmod-fglrx
    init 3
    fglrx-config-display enable
    reboot

    Boot up in Single User Mode and execute this

    system-config-display --reconfig
    Reconfigure display settings.
