    Question wireless


    hi,

    Am using Fedora 8 and am having a wifi problem

    am trying to use the terminal to connect to a wireless network. I can scan for networks from the terminal but when i run the command

    ~# iwconfig eth1 enc 1234567890
    It gives the error

    Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
    invalid argument "1234567890"

    can someone help me out

    try this

    i am not sure about it but try this...

    iwlist scan
    iwconfig eth1 ESSID "name of ur connection" (without "")
    ifconfig eth1 down
    ifconfig eth1 up
    now ping ur ip address ...if it doesn't work then make sure ur network manager is on and is running .....use following commands for this...

    level 345 NetworkManager ON
    /sbin/chkconfig -- level 345 NetworkManager ON
    /sbin/chkconfig --level 345 NetworkManagerDispatcher on
    /sbin/service NetworkManager start
    /sbin/service NetworkManagerDispatcher start

    i hope it will work !!
