Hi Guys,

I got desperate while trying to configure my linux box to work on serial console....
In /etc/inittab I added:
s0:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L -f /etc/issueserial 9600 ttyS0 vt100
s1:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L -f /etc/issueserial 9600 ttyS1 vt100

in /etc/grub.conf:
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-8.el5 ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet crashkernel=128M@16M/ console=ttyS0,9600

When checking dmesg | grep tty I get:
Kernel command line: ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 rhgb quiet crashkernel=128M@16M/ console=ttyS0,9600
serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
00:04: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
0000:05:01.0: ttyS1 at I/O 0x5000 (irq = 201) is a 16550A
0000:05:01.0: ttyS2 at I/O 0x5008 (irq = 201) is a 16550A

And ps -ef | grep agetty shows:
root 2682 1 0 14:44 ttyS0 00:00:00 /sbin/agetty -L -f /etc/issueserial 9600 ttyS0 vt100
root 2834 1 0 15:05 ttyS1 00:00:00 /sbin/agetty -L -f /etc/issueserial 9600 ttyS1 vt100
root 2876 2746 0 15:23 pts/0 00:00:00 grep agetty

When I try to connect my windows machine, using null modem cable and my terminal client is Secure CRT, I get messy output like this:
"ljhkRJoTo[UiRJsYԽ"
I know that usualy it shows on a unmatched speed but i set 9600 baud rate, data bit 8, no parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control.
when I sendint to /dev/ttyS0 I see output on the terminal client but still only mess.

Any ideas anyone?????

Cheers!
