    Cant install network driver RTL8139

I have an "Asrock conroe 1333-D667" motherboard it uses an Realtek RTL 8139 (it's onboard) network adapter and everything runs perfect on windows xp but, as the pc is new i installed Red hat enterprise and i boot it up but i cant ping anything (even my gateway) or get into webpages.

In the red hat network configuration tool i configure ip and everything and save it, then it tell you to select an ethernet adapter for the configuration... if i select eth0 it says to reboot and when i do happens what i explained before, and if i select "realtek RTL8139" (eth2) it says something like "device is not found or connected" something like that i need help plx :S.

I checked the forum "search" but havnt found anything that helps me...

BTW when i "slpci" i get something like:
    Code:
01:00.0 Realtek Semiconductor CO. LTD. Unkown device:8136 (rev 01).

that is quite an old kernel, it is built into kernel at the latest in 2.6.18-5, I know this because I use debian net install which installs this kernel and I had support for the chipset out of the box, you should update kernel (2.6.9 is pretty old), what version of RHEL are you running?

If you don't want to upgrade your kernel you will have to download and compile the module and load it Open Drivers - Free Download Realtek RTL8169/RTL8169S(B)/RTL8110S(B) Driver 1.00 Linux Kernel 2.4.x & 2.6.x
