Uptime: Can it be changed manually to run a test for "497" days?
I've scoured the web but saw no way to "fake" Linux uptime in order to test a problem that apparently occurs once uptime has hit 497 days. This is not the jiffy wraparound issue, but is a 3rd party software issue.
From what I've seen its not as simple as pushing your system clock ahead x number of days and rather is calculated by jiffies.
There is a bit of a harsh method via script listed here: Microtron Home Page - Linux Uptime Faker Shell Script
But I thought I'd ask if there was some less "dangerous" method.
Environment: Redhat EL4 Update3
TIA!
