What do you mean "mask" an ip?

you can't masquerade your own ip with the computer you are using. another computer can masquerade your ip though. but i think you should look into getting your linux box behind a nat (network address translation) firewall if you want the ip to be masqueraded.
http://firewall.cx/ and http://www.firewallguide.com/ gives lots of info on networking and firewalls.

it is behind a firewall but I was just trying to fiqure out if i could mask it again or mask my isps ip with it

did you mean ip masquerading?if so check in firewall options...
