    Hi and Welcome !

Which version of Fedora are you using?
First of all, check out linuxcommand.org to learn basic Linux Commands.
You can use 'yum' to install any package. You machine must have internet access for that.
    Code:
    su -
    yum -y install nvu
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Okk ! Thats the latest version and you wont have any problem in Package installation.
I would suggest you to install Yum Extender ( yumex ) too. Its a Graphical Interface of yum.
    Code:
    yum -y install yumex
Look for Yum Extender in Menu.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    when i typed
    su -
    yum -y install nvu

    i got the message:

    Setting up Install Process
    Parsing package install arguments
    No package nvu available.
    Nothing to do
    why is that?

First of all, install Livna Repo.
    Execute this
    Code:
    su -
    rpm -Uhv http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
    It will install Livna repository.
Now open Yum Extender, search for VLC and install it.
    Or
    Execute this
    Code:
    yum -y install vlc
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    I'm getting the error msg

    Retrieving http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
error: skipping http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm - transfer failed - Unknown or unexpected error
currently our network dosen't support ftp. is that the reason for this?
