Sound Help Please (Error running install command for sound_s

    Hello all,
I am still having some sound driver issues. I resinstalled FC2 on my laptop and have not gotten sound working sense. The most i get is about 1 beat from the song and then the sound quits working. XMMS and in mpg123 both have the same issue, eiter through headphone or speaker. I have checked all volume controls, downloaded latest alsa from source and compiled/installed. Below are my system details.

    Kernel Linux version 2.6.5-1.358

    Laptop System
    Gateway M350WVN http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/...1666sp58.shtml
    Audio
SigmatelŪ Soft Audio AC97 rev 2.3 codec (STAC9752)

I receive the following in my /var/log/messages

Aug 10 08:06:46 mobilesentry modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for sound_slot_2

This line is in my modprobe.conf
    alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0

When I run the sound card detection utility it finds

if as you're saying you r sound card is recognised check for xmms plugins or mpg321 plugins that may be needed in sites like gurulabs..

    Thanks for the reply

When I run the sound card detection utility in Gnome, it finds my sound card, however when I choose to play test sound one of two things will happen.. Either I will hear nothing and get a request asking if I heard the sound, or the dialog box will hang and never ask if I heard the sound. I have made certain all volume controls are up and I have listened through headphones and through the pc speaker. I have also downloaded and installed the mp3 pluggins, even recompiled xmms with no results.

    Thanks
