open kppp program and make all the configuration like in windows..if you have a problem with that post...

my modem is on serial port ...
fedora did not recognise it on its own

how did you figure that out?all serial devices are recognised(usb modem should have a problem).in kppp in section device choose /dev/ttySx to select this serial device and then query modem to check if it is recognised.
